Every donation makes a difference for the pets and families we serve. Thank you for considering how to best support our mission!
Our most immediate and ongoing needs are dry pet food (cat and dog) and cat litter, which directly fuel our Pet Food & Supply Pantry. In 2025, the pantry distributed over 142,000 pounds of food to community pet owners in need and we couldn’t do it without donors like you. You can drop off unopened, unexpired food at the shelter or utilize our online wish lists (linked below) to have food and litter shipped directly to us.
Cash donations are an incredibly impactful way to give. Because we purchase most shelter supplies at wholesale prices, a monetary gift often stretches further than a comparable in-kind purchase. Your donation helps us leverage our resources to reach more pets.
However we do welcome donated goods that align with our vet-approved items detailed below. Please note that we do not accept grooming supplies, sheets, homemade treats or food, large or extra-large beds, homemade pet toys, or stuffed animals that are not manufactured for animal use.
Donated items may be dropped off at Entrance B (Adoptions) during our business hours, 10:00 am–5:30 pm Tuesday–Sunday. Donating more than one carload? Please reach out to us in advance at development@thehumanesociety.org so we can make sure we’re ready to receive you.

Pet food donations will be used where it is needed most to care for the pets in the shelter and in the community. These are our preferred brands:

We cannot accept expired food, and donated food must have at least 2 months before the expiration date marked. We cannot accept open bags of food or homemade treats or food. We are currently not accepting k/d or renal support foods.

For the safety of shelter pets, we cannot accept blankets or pet beds with stuffing or feathers.

We can only accept new toys that are made for animal use.
We are temporarily pausing towel and blanket donations.
