You Made it Possible: 14 Huskies Find Loving Homes
Back in April, our shelter was nearing maximum capacity when 14 huskies were found roaming in a pack near the rural community of Ashford. Our animal care professionals had several concerns. “How long had the dogs been in the wild?” “Are they socialized?” and “Where will we put them all?”
When the huskies arrived at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, many trembled with fear, anxious about the unfamiliar, unknown environment. With the shelter experiencing a debilitating population crisis, our staff knew that caring for these sweet dogs would be an enormous challenge. Luckily, we knew our supportive community would have our back to help neglected dogs like these in a crisis.
We put a call out to the community asking for help, and the response was inspirational. Thanks to the swift action of compassionate donors like you, the 14 huskies received vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, individualized care, and loving attention to prepare them for their new lives in caring homes.
Within days, the dogs all found loving adopters who were eager to share updates of their new furry family members. Here are just a few of them:
Kale
“We named him Kale, which means strong and manly in Hawaiian. He’s certainly got a funky personality as he loves being inside and doesn’t like being outside. All in all, he’s been a great addition to our family!”
Twyla
“She’s super sweet and a real love bug. She is now part of our family, and I look forward to enjoying her company for hopefully many years.”
Juno
“We named her Juno and she’s doing great! She’s very sweet and loves lots of belly rubs and snuggles on the couch. She gets to go on lots of adventures with us and are so happy to have her apart of our family.”
Sage
“Sage is doing great! She’s an absolute sweetheart. She’s incredibly social with humans and other dogs and loves to play in the yard with our other pup.”
Suka
“We knew she was the one we wanted before we even met her in the visitation room, based on her posted picture. There was just a feeling of inquisitiveness in her picture. Oh yeah! She is nosy as all get-out! She’s one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had.”
Cedar
“Our sweet Cedar immediately became part of our family. She fit right in from the start. Cedar is SUCH a snuggler and just adores our two girls. She is truly such a special joy in our family. We count ourselves so lucky to have had the opportunity to adopt our girl!”
We are deeply appreciative of your kind support. Because of you, these dogs are thriving and safe in new homes and have years of love ahead of them to enjoy. Thank you for making our lifesaving work possible!
