Celebrating Community, Creativity, and Compassion: Our New Mural is Complete!

Our new mural, featuring the winners of our Mural Muse Photo Contest, is now complete—and we’re absolutely thrilled to share it with our incredible community!

Fergus, Disco Nap, and Archie, three unforgettable pets with big personalities, have been brought to life in vibrant color by talented local artist Saiyare Refaei. The mural is a joyful celebration of the spirit of rescue pets and the compassionate community that supports them.

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to paint at the Humane Society,” Saiyare shared. “I’ve learned so much about the hard work and care that goes on there just by witnessing all the people who come in and out as staff, volunteers, and community members. Not only was it fun to celebrate three amazing pets, but I felt like I gained so much through the process, too.”

Even more inspiring? The Mural Muse Photo Contest raised more than $14,000 to help pets in need right here in Pierce County. Every dollar raised supports our shelter’s lifesaving work, providing medical care, food, and safe shelter for animals until they find loving homes.

To everyone who entered, voted, donated, or cheered from the sidelines, thank you! Your support helps make second chances possible for thousands of pets each year. This mural is more than just a beautiful piece of art. It’s a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for animals in need.
