Purr-fectly Wonderful Volunteer Recognized at Regional Festival

Chris started at the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County in April of 2016. A life-long pet owner, Chris first began volunteering in the Pet Food Pantry, one of our many valuable community resource programs. She is adamant that this was a conscious decision so to avoid the temptation of taking any cats home. Ultimately, her destiny was to help our shelter cats and she reassigned to our Cat Services Program to help with general care and feeding. From there, she moved into her current role as a trainer/mentor for our Cat Enrichment Program, “Purrtime.” She especially enjoys the challenge of advocating and working with the shelter’s shy population. During her more than 1,600 hours of volunteering, Chris has been an amazing ambassador for our cats. Even though she resists the temptation to adopt personally, she is steadfast in her belief of helping every kitty get a home!

After being nominated by her fellow volunteers, Chris was recently recognized at Mud Bay’s FUTY (From Us to You) Volunteer Festival in Seattle. Though she didn’t win the top prize, we’re still so proud of Chris and appreciate her efforts to enrich the lives of feline shelter friends! Thanks to everyone who voted for Chris!
