Make Memories Last Forever
When animal lover, Nadia, passed away she left behind a legacy of kindness towards animals.
Nadia grew up with family pets, including a dog named Patches, who she enjoyed taking fishing on the lake every summer, and cats that she cherished.
During grade school, she was a member of 4-H for cats and even won first place for ‘Best in Show’.
Nadia continued to grow up with a love of animals and brought home pets of her own, including a gentle lab named Duke, along with a fat and happy cat named Dexter. She loved them dearly and would play with them for hours on end. When Dexter passed away, Nadia came to the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County to give another cat in need a home. But Nadia couldn’t pick just one, and she adopted two cats that needed her the most.
Her unconditional love for animals and passion for animal welfare was an inspiration to many, including her mother and father, who decided to take in a stray kitten, who they named Blu Spot.
Not long after adopting the kitten, Nadia became ill with Bacterial Meningitis and, tragically, passed away. Blu Spot never left the family’s side.
To honor Nadia’s memory, her best friends hosted a fundraiser and donated the profits to a kennel sponsorship at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. A plaque with a tribute to Nadia can be seen on one of the shelter’s cat kennels.
Nadia dedicated her life to helping animals, and now, her kennel helps keep hundreds of cats comfortable and safe until they go to their forever homes.
Her family continues to honor Nadia by sponsoring her kennel every year.
For less than $3 a day, you can honor someone special in your life and sponsor a kennel for dogs, cats, and critters at the shelter. Individuals and families can sponsor a kennel and enjoy making a difference together or as an impactful way to carry on the memory of a loved one.
Make memories last forever, just like Nadia’s.
