40 Fresh Starts in One Day: A Community Effort Worth Celebrating

Yesterday, National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day felt extra special, and it’s all thanks to you.

Because of this incredible community, 40 dogs, cats, and small pets went home to loving families. That’s more than double a typical weekday’s adoptions and half the total of an average week. In just one day, 40 fresh starts and second chances became happily ever afters.

This kind of impact doesn’t happen without a lot of people coming together, and we’re so grateful to everyone who made the day possible:

• Hill’s Pet Nutrition, whose generous sponsorship allowed us to waive adoption fees and remove barriers so pets could get home faster
• Pipa Broker, for sharing helpful information about post-adoption pet insurance and helping families feel confident about long-term care
• A generous out-of-state donor who made sure our team stayed fueled with lunch and dinner during a long, extended-hours event
• Our dedicated staff, who stepped in wherever needed and embraced an extended weekday adoption event to help more pets find homes
• Our incredible volunteers, who welcomed guests, cared for animals, and kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes
• And most importantly, you, for opening your hearts and homes and for standing with Tacoma Humane to help even more animals in need
