#2 Hoppin Art Piece: Marguerite

Marguerite, the seductive otter, is a one of a kind sculpture made specifically for The Society Soirée by renowned local artist, Christopher Hoppin.

Marguerite is wearing a vintage silver gown and antique Chinese fascinator. Her fur is treated with luscious glass beads to add a touch of sparkle. Marguerite likes long naps in the sun and relaxing on fireplace mantles.

Christopher Hoppin is a sculptor, teacher, philanthropist, husband, and father of three adorable pups. He works out of his studio in North Tacoma. His work is in multiple museum collections and a White House Collection.

Christopher’s work captures his whimsy, love of color, and “don’t take yourself so seriously” attitude. As an artist and teacher, Christopher develops his witty visual commentary with the help of his brilliant wife, imaginative students, and the stunning environment of the Puget Sound.

Value: $2,000

Thank you Christopher Hoppin!

Fund an Item – Veterinary Treatment Fund

The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County welcomed 11,578 pets last year, reuniting 1,742 families, finding homes for 7,145 pets, and fostering 1,744 pets with volunteers. Because of the tremendous support of our community, the Society’s live release rate hit an all-time high of 92.65%!

As the Society’s spay/neuter, community outreach, and adoption programs have yielded tremendous success, the pets now arriving at the Society are often those in need of significant veterinary care prior to adoption.

Your gift tonight will help save pets who in years past would have faced euthanasia. You are giving them hope and a new life. While viewing tonight’s presentation, watch for the incredible transformations of two dogs: Esperanza (Hope) and Phoenix!

Large Vehicle Wrap

Want to see your best friend helping other pets in need in our community? Our largest vehicle “Rover” needs a fresh wrap, and tonight is your opportunity to have the pick of the litter of the spots available! The first one to make a $2,500 gift gets first choice of placement on the new wrap, the second gets second choice, and so on until Rover is covered all over.

We have a limited number of spaces on this large vehicle! The wrap will last for several years, and you can be proud of the work you and your pet are doing in the community!

Other Fund-a-Need bidding levels are: $500, $250, & $100*

*Thanks to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee there is a special challenge grant at the $100 level. If we receive 50 gifts at the $100 level, the Society will receive a bonus $2,500 gift!
