New Year, New Home: Adoption Special a Huge Success

Happy adoption photo

A new beginning for dog Finn

Back in mid-December, 60 dogs and cats from a single property arrived at our shelter from a Pierce County Animal Control cruelty investigation. Following the large-scale intake, the shelter was caring for 147 dogs on-site, plus nearly 100 in foster homes, which was a challenge at the time.

Just a week later, the number of dogs under our care climbed to 264—the highest total number of dogs the shelter had managed at once in seven years—further straining our outdated facility and resources.

To create life-changing space in our facility, we hosted a four-day adoption promotion from January 2-5, waiving adoption fees for adult dogs. The response was inspiring: 58 dogs found loving homes or began home trials during the event!

A Visit from the Asher House

On Friday, we had a special visit from Lee Asher of The Asher House, who stopped by to shine a light on the importance of adoption—and couldn’t resist taking Bailey home! After waiting 150 days, this sweet girl has finally found her happily ever after.

Thank You

We’re so thankful to everyone who opened their hearts and homes during this adoption event. You helped make happy happen for over 50 deserving dogs in just four days!

Congratulations to the pets and their new families—we can’t wait to see and share updates on how these animals thrive in their loving homes.
