The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County finds homes for more animals than any other shelter in the state of Washington. Each year, more than 7,000 shelter pets are matched with loving families, an average of 150 per week.

On average, there are over 50 dogs and 35 cats available for adoption at the shelter each day.  Most are mixed breed, but up to 20% are purebred.  There are adoption counselors available to help you choose just the right pet — you are bound to find your best friend at the Humane Society!

Adoption Applications

Our new Meet Your Match adoption program uses a simple owner survey to match your lifestyle with the pet that is right for you.  Download our Dog Adoption Application or Cat Adoption Application forms and bring them with you to the Humane Society when you’re ready to adopt a pet.
