What Can You Do to End the Heartache?

What can you do to End the Heartache?  To help Pierce County become a place where every adoptable pet has a home:

  • Spay or neuter your pets. Fix the problem. The Humane Society recommends that cats and dogs be fixed before 5 months of age.

  • Adopt. Think of The Humane Society first when you want a pet for yourself or your family. The Humane Society always has hundreds of healthy, adoptable pets, including mixed breeds and purebred.

  • Foster. Consider short-term care for a litter of kittens or puppies until they’re old enough to be adopted.  Care for an adult pet recovering from illness until it is ready for a home.

  • Volunteer. More than 900 volunteers help The Humane Society provide a loving, compassionate shelter for animals. If you’ve got even 6 hours a month to spare, The Humane Society can use your help.

  • Donate. The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County is a private, non-profit organization, not funded by any government organization. Donations from individuals, foundations and companies play a critical role in The Humane Society’s work, funding such programs as the Cinderella Fund for low-income spay/neuter.

  • Spread the Word.  Tell your friends and relatives that they can be part of the solution through spaying, neutering and adopting their next pet from The Humane Society.
