Humane Society to Welcome Dogs from Louisiana

The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County has offered to take in dogs from the ASPCA shelter in New Orleans, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  The pets in this shelter had been evacuated to  shelters in neighboring cities, which are now overflowing with homeless and stranded dogs and cats.  To help ease the burden, The Humane Society will be accepting six to eight dogs, which will be placed for adoption after a brief quartantine period.

We do not have any information yet on what types or sizes of dogs will be arriving, or exactly when they will arrive.

We will update this site as soon as we have more information.

If you want to help, please help make space for these dogs by adopting a shelter pet today!
